  • What is Destination ImagiNationTM?

Destination ImagiNationTM is about Kids and Creativity. Destination ImagiNationTM is a non-profit corporation that dedicates itself to enriching the global community and the lives of all those touched by our programs. It provides opportunities to explore and discover unlimited creative potential through teamwork, cooperation, and mutual respect. The TXCPSO presents Destination ImagiNationTM in Texas to teach our students to build complex creative problem solving skills. The program is compatible with Texas schools' curriculums. The student teams can choose to solve structural, technical, artistic, improvisational or performance challenges. Teams throughout the world will present their solutions in league, regional, state and a final global competition. While the competitions are a very important part of the program you child never loses. Destination ImagiNationTM is a win - win with everybody!

    Let's have FUN!

The key to the Texas' Destination ImagiNation program is discovering the process of creative problem solving.

The Destination ImagiNationTM program has two components:

"Instant Challenge" - Instant challenges teach students to take what life is handing them moment to moment. These challenges spark and quickly capture the team members' wild imaginations by requiring them to solve a challenge quickly and decisively. Students practice "Improv" using presented random materials and verbal responses to demonstrate their creative talents on the spot. With this component, participants have the opportunity to learn creativity skills, divergent and convergent thinking, risk taking, time awareness, and team skills.

"Team Challenges" - Teams use art, technology, performance, and real world relevance as they tackle one of the five Team Challenges. The Team Challenge solution can take from several weeks to several months to develop. The teams must do the needed research and experimentation needed to solve every aspect of the Team Challenge problem and develop a performance-based presentation demonstrating the team's solution.

    Creating, Building, Experimenting, and Learning

The journey will involve studying everything from drama to physics, construction to presentation, literature to laughter. But, the solutions come solely from the students. At no time is parental interference allowed.

    A Sport for the Mind!

Destination ImagiNationTM is Child Friendly! The Destination ImagiNation programTM is available for all students from kindergarten through college. Teams compete only against their peers in any one of five grade-based levels. Primary/Rising Star level (non-competitive), Grades K-2; Elementary Level, Grades K-5; Middle Level, Grades 6-8; Secondary Level, Grades 9-12; and University Level. Through solving problems students develop creative skills that can be transferred to real-life situations.
